After the Bombacino family’s 5-month old son AJ experienced a major seizure, devastating diagnoses soon followed: cerebral palsy (CP), epilepsy, and global developmental delays, which caused him to be placed on a feeding tube. While the small child struggled to digest his prescription-grade formula, which was at least 50% corn syrup, the Bombacinos became increasingly worried that their son wasn’t getting the nutrients he needed, so they began searching for answers through online support groups. The family subsequently began feeding AJ food through his G-tube, which resulted in immediate weight gain, increased activity levels, overall health, and most of all, a happier baby. The Bombacinos found support and strength in the CP community who shared similar experiences of hopelessness and helped the family through a difficult time in their life—so much so that AJ’s mother Julie founded her own company making all-natural blenderized meals for feeding tubes easier for children diagnosed with CP.
