Rival North Carolina middle school football teams set aside their competitive streak at a late September 2016 match-up when 15-year old Lou Stamey, who has cerebral palsy, became the MVP. Lou has loved football since he can remember his late father refereeing games at the local middle and high schools and has always dreamed of being on the field. This season, he finally got the chance to participate in a game, scoring a 50-yard touchdown after executing the “Lou Play.” Once he crossed into the end zone, the crowd erupted into a moment the young teen—and the entire team—would never forget.
