Steph Hammerman, 27, was born three months premature and diagnosed with cerebral palsy. In 2016, she was diagnosed with stage 3 lymphoma, but is celebrating one year of being cancer free by participating in Winston-Salem’s Mistletoe Half-Marathon. Hammerman has competed in 14 marathons and half-marathons as a handcyclist, using a bike powered by hand pedals. She is the world’s first Level 2-certified CrossFit trainer with cerebral palsy, highlighting her ability to overcome limitations. “My biggest inspiration is the people who don’t think I can do something or question my capability,” said Hammerman. “If you tell me I can’t, I’ll show you I can.”
