Miracles can happen at Christmas—and for three-year old Esme Hodge, her holiday wishes came true when she took her first unassisted steps. Esme, who was born 11 weeks premature and weighing only three pounds, has cerebral palsy. She recently traveled from the United Kingdom to America to receive a spinal surgery to help her walk. And walk she did—taking her first steps toward Santa to receive a Christmas gift. “As a family, seeing Ezzy walk by herself to meet Santa was the best Christmas present we could have wished for,” her mother explained.
