MLB Pitcher Donates Mansion to Charity for Special-Needs Kids

Co-founders of The Hamels Foundation, Texas Rangers pitcher Cole Hamels and his wife, Heidi, have donated their 32,000-square foot home and 100 acres of land in southwest Missouri to Camp Barnabas. The Christian faith-based charity provides camps for children with special needs and chronic illnesses, allowing them to recognize their strengths and potential. The donation, valued at $9.75 million, is the largest gift the organization has ever received. Camp Barnabas CEO Jason Brawner says the gift will help to “expand [their] ministry outside of a summer camp.”
