New England Patriots defensive end Adrian Clayborn faces some challenges on the field due to Erb’s Palsy, a brachial plexus injury he sustained at birth. Brachial plexus injuries can cause weakness, numbness and loss of motion due to nerve damage in the neck, and may require extensive physical therapy to treat. During Week 13 of football season, Clayborn and 800 other NFL players displayed important causes on their cleats as part of the My Cause, My Cleats campaign. Clayborn hopes that kids who sustained similar injuries will be comforted by the fact that they aren’t alone. Through social media, players are bringing awareness to a multitude of charitable organizations and causes using the hashtag #mycausemycleats.
