Paralympian Rower with Erb’s Palsy Goes for the Gold in Rio

Paralympian Rower with Erb’s Palsy Goes for the Gold in Rio

Danielle Hansen has been living with Erb’s palsy since she was a little girl, but she didn’t let her condition get in the way of her dreams of becoming a Paralympian. Danielle, a para-rower, will compete in the September 2016 Rio de Janeiro Paralympic Games with her teammates. Though the team has competed on a global stage before at several World Rowing Championship competitions, they have trained hard for the biggest stage: “You can never be too prepared with something you’ve never done before…You can’t just skim by and get gold. You have to work hard every day and practice to earn it,” she said. For Danielle, encouraged relentlessly by her parents, making the Paralympics affirms that her dream of a gold medal is achievable—and also incredibly inspiring.
