Stem Cell Therapy May Improve Motor Function in Patients with Cerebral Palsy

A specialized stem cell therapy center in India has recently reported positive results in treating a patient with cerebral palsy. The therapy, which involves injecting stem cells collected from a patient’s bone marrow into the spinal canal, is believed to lead to improvements in gross motor function in some cerebral palsy patients, according to recent studies. By way of example, results from such stem cell therapy include relaxing the hand muscles to allow them to open.  The use of stem cells may lead to the ability to treat other types of diseases and conditions as well.
