A study published in the Open Journal of Therapy and Rehabilitation indicates that children with hemiplegic cerebral palsy may benefit from specialized training using a device to exercise their hands and arms. Researchers used the E-Link Upper Limb Exerciser, an interactive computer system that provides feedback and encouragement after users perform therapeutic activities. The authors found that the feedback provided by the exerciser helped individuals achieve goals more quickly and increased their motivation. Children involved in the study displayed improved praxis, or their ability to conceptualize, plan, and execute unfamiliar motor movements.
