A team of firefighters in the UK are about to scale three mountains for a toddler with cerebral palsy, a condition caused by brain damage that can affect both motor coordination and cognition. Known as the “three peaks challenge,” they will hike Scotland’s Ben Nevis, England’s Scafell Pike and Wales’ Snowdon—all in a 24-hour period. The grueling hike will raise money for one of the teammate’s nephews, two-year old Oliver Barker who was diagnosed with cerebral palsy following complications at birth. The team sets out on June 10, 2017 in hopes to help Oliver’s family offset some of the medical expenses they have incurred.
