A hospital in Minnesota is providing virtual reality headsets for sick children to use when they receive routine injections. Caretakers believe that offering children views of a sandy beach or a visually-controlled video game through the headsets helps them relax during uncomfortable sessions of injections, infusions or other procedures. The hospital’s researchers have applied for funding to study the effect of virtual reality on young cerebral palsy patients undergoing Botox injections.
